12/7/2020: When you search for the best hikes around Palm Desert, the #1 hike in the area often shows up as the Bump and Grind Loop. The hike is rather challenging, with 1,100 ft. elevation gain over 4.0 miles. It is used by runners, hikers and bikers. It is extremely popular. It climbs high enough to get a good view of the Palm Desert area. And it is nearly wall-to-wall people. So, if you want a good workout that is surely a short drive from where you are staying in Palm Desert, then by all means, this is a perfect trail for you. If you want a hike with not so many people, pristine views of nature (not buildings and golf courses), and a real opportunity to see wildlife or unique scenery, then you should find another trail. Perhaps I am being particularly judgmental and harsh, but we didn’t like the hike. You might. Go clockwise.

Marg’s Notes: Left a bit after 8 to do the Bump and Grind Trail. Internet said it was the best hike around, but we did not agree. Basically on the edge of town. Very crowded. Good view of the city of Palm Desert. It was cloudy, so might have looked better in the sun. Good exercise tho! 4.5 miles. 2 hour 12 minutes. After that we drove to the Tahquitz Falls Hike. This is on the Agua Caliente Reservation & had a $12.50 fee. We had a coupon so saved $5! This was beautiful! An easy hike. Quite a few people. 2.14 miles. Rod got some very nice pics. Took 1 hour 45 minutes. Came home for lunch and a nap!

Chimichangas, chips and salsa, & salad.
